Father/daughter partners and principals of Community Concepts Publishing, Kirk Effinger and Kelly Effinger are proud to announce the marriage of their two highly popular community magazines, San Marcos Magazine and Escondido Magazine. The result of this “marriage”, NC Magazine, North County ’s Community Magazine contains the same interesting local content and the same vibrant, high-quality look readers and advertisers have come to expect from San Marcos Magazine and Escondido Magazine. Hitting the streets the end of April, NC Magazine will continue to include articles of local interest and specific to each community it serves.


“NC Magazine is the natural evolution of our community magazine approach,” said Kelly Effinger in making the announcement, “In the past, many articles and columns were featured in both the predecessor magazines. By our combining the two magazines, readers will continue to get the content they enjoy, plus articles that may have only been seen exclusively in San Marcos Magazine or Escondido Magazine.”  Added Kirk Effinger, “The inaugural issue of NC Magazine will have a press run of 40,000 copies that will be distributed throughout Escondido , Valley Center , San Marcos and neighboring communities as before, with a combination of bulk delivery, house-to-house, and mail. And, the new magazine will be published bi-monthly.”


In making the announcement, the Effinger team also announced the departure of Escondido Magazine Editor Joyce Wells. “Joyce had made a decision a bit earlier to concentrate her efforts in another direction, so we agreed she would leave the magazine effective March 31. We wish her well,” said Kirk Effinger.
